Pop-ups Causing My Brain to Explode!

By Shannon Sargent

After spending the good part of last night and this morning scrubbing my PC from a bad FireFox install, I figured I would share a few great links in case someone else faces those annoying little buggers.  It seems to be going around lately, perhaps from choosing an install link that APPEARS to be Mozilla’s legitimate download- but is actually a redirect with a file loaded with Malware.  So be careful when you download and install items. Always make sure you are at the authors site, and if on the off chance you find yourself struggling with pop-ups and redirects use these tools to wipe them out.  Keep in mind, no ONE tool is 100% effective on all infections.  Sometimes you have to use multiple tools to disinfect.  ALSO remember- deinstall or disable all other virus/malware/adware scanners before moving on to the next to avoid conflicts.  It is also good form to deinstall all Java installations and reinstall from java.com just to be sure you are clean.
**REMINDER: Disable/deinstall all scanners before moving on to the next.
